Stuart Clarke is the Director of the Watershed Protection Program at the William Penn Foundation. Prior to assuming that role, he was the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science. Previously, he served as Executive Director of the Town Creek Foundation, where he helped facilitate the funding of environmental advocacy efforts to protect the Chesapeake Bay and advance clean energy transformations in Maryland.
Stuart’s previous philanthropic experience includes assignments as a Program Officer with the Turner Foundation and as Development Director of the Southern Partners Fund, both in Atlanta, Georgia. Stuart also has served on the faculty of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts; as the Director of the Atlanta Outward Bound Center; and as Chief Operating Officer of Hands On Network, a national network of community-based centers for volunteerism and civic action. Stuart’s volunteer leadership includes service on the boards of Earthjustice, the Maryland Institute College of Art, and the Blue Mountain Center.
